What is THC-O Acetate?

Amongst the many recent cannabinoids that have gained popularity, THC-O has won the hearts of many. Like Delta 9 THC, THC-O has psychoactive properties.

THC-O Acetate has gained a reputation that goes both ways for several reasons. THC-O is an alternate cannabinoid-like Delta-8 THC; similarly to D8, THC-O begins with CBD. THC-O Acetate is not a cannabinoid that you can DIY; this requires heavy equipment, a specialized lab, and a chemist certified in a specific branch of special training. Creating THC-O is extremely dangerous; everything is delicate, flammable, and volatile, so let the professionals handle it. They don’t even touch the chemicals; a machine handles the cannabinoid while the chemist wears a hazmat suit. While you may find this unsettling, it’s a happy ending; don’t worry.

Ultimately, THC-O goes through a solvent process similar to CBD, turning into Delta 8 THC, except now, Delta-8 is used as the base of the chemical processing. You can say that THC-O is synthetic because it’s not readily available inside hemp or marijuana plants. But the meaning of synthetic has changed significantly in this instance. THC-O is federally legal under the Farm Bill of 2018.

What is CBD?

CBD is the day one non-psychoactive cannabinoid that has blown up amongst the health and wellness community. CBD can be found, in an abundant amount, in cannabis plants. Both Hemp and Marijuana carry a large amount of CBD. However, Hemp is the reigning champion when it comes to quantity with CBD.

What is the difference between CBD and THC-O?

Along with CBD being non-psychoactive, CBD is biphasic. Biphasic means that your body reacts differently based on how you are using a cannabinoid. CBD is a sativa in smaller quantities and an indica in larger quantities. This works with Delta-8 THC as well. THC-O is psychoactive, but research hasn’t produced enough information to determine whether it is biphasic. Delta-8 THC converts into what is known as Delta-11 (11-Hydroxy-Δ⁹-tetrahydrocannabinol).

THC-O is available in gummies, flower, tinctures, vapes carts, concentrates, and other edible types such as chocolates.
